How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    TeacherActive is proud to be working with a well-established children's residential care provider with several homes across Birmingham. The provider supports children and young people aged 6-16 with EBD, Autism and SEMH, promoting a safe, nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential through a caring and therapeutic approach.

    We are looking to recruit a Qualified Residential Support Worker (Children) on a temporary, part-time basis with an ASAP start. The successful Qualified Residential Support Worker (Children) will support young people with their daily routines, promote independence, manage challenging behaviours positively, and deliver high-quality, person-centred care across a number of residential homes. Shifts include 12-hour day shifts (10:00am to 10:00pm), with sleep shifts and waking nights also available.

    The successful Qualified Residential Support Worker (Children) will have:

    Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification (or equivalent)
    Previous experience supporting children and young people in a residential care setting
    Experience working with children displaying challenging behaviours
    Knowledge of supporting children with EBD, Autism and SEMH
    A caring, hands-on and person-centred approach
    Flexibility to work 12-hour day shifts, sleep shifts and waking nights
    A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is preferred
