How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Pre-School Leader

    Hours: 38 hours per week, Term Time Only
    Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
    Start Date: September 2026 or as soon as possible

    About the Role

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced and passionate Pre-School Leader to lead a thriving and well-established early years setting.

    The successful candidate will inspire and support a dedicated team, ensuring children receive the highest quality care and education within a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment. The role focuses on the day-to-day leadership of the setting, curriculum delivery, staff development and maintaining high standards in line with the EYFS Framework and Ofsted requirements.

    This position benefits from dedicated administrative support, allowing the successful candidate to focus on leading the educational provision and supporting children, families and staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the day-to-day running of the pre-school.

    * Plan, implement and monitor an engaging EYFS curriculum.

    * Ensure children's progress is effectively tracked and assessed.

    * Maintain high standards of teaching, learning and care.

    * Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and Child Protection Officer.

    * Lead, support and develop staff through supervision, mentoring and appraisals.

    * Ensure compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, health and safety and Ofsted requirements.

    * Develop positive partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies.

    * Support children to achieve their developmental milestones.

    * Promote an inclusive environment where all children can thrive.

    Person Specification

    Essential

    * Full and relevant Early Years Level 3 qualification or equivalent.

    * Minimum two years' experience in a leadership or management role within an early years setting (Deputy Manager experience will be considered).

    * Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

    * Excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

    * GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.

    * Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.

    * Ability to motivate, support and develop a team.

    Desirable

    * Experience of Ofsted inspections.

    * Knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice.

    * Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office packages.

    * Experience working closely with parents and the wider community.
