An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Job Coach to join a thriving Supported Internship programme in a Southampton Sixth Form College from September on a full-time, long-term basis. This role offers the opportunity to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to secure and sustain meaningful employment.
About the Role
As a Job Coach, you will work directly with young people in workplace settings, providing tailored support and training to help them succeed in their roles. You will collaborate closely with employers, families and education teams to ensure learners achieve positive outcomes and progress into paid employment wherever possible.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who enjoys building relationships, supporting individual development and championing inclusive employment opportunities.
What You'll Be Doing
Providing workplace coaching and support to learners on Supported Internship programmes.
Using Systematic Instruction techniques to help individuals learn and perform job tasks independently.
Supporting learners with workplace inductions, onboarding and transition planning.
Monitoring attendance, progress and workplace performance.
Maintaining accurate records and learner support documentation.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with employers and other stakeholders.
Identifying suitable employment opportunities and supporting job matching activities.
Helping employers create inclusive workplaces and overcome barriers to employment.
Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.
Supporting learners to progress into sustainable paid employment.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with young people and/or adults with additional needs.
Previous experience within employment support, education, training, supported internships or similar settings.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
A positive, patient and proactive approach.
Ability to motivate, support and advocate for learners.
Confidence working independently and as part of a wider team.
Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve).
