How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering & Utilities

    Location: Pontyclun, South Wales
    Salary: £40,000–£55,000 plus company car
    Contract: Permanent

    We are recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering and utilities contractor based in Pontyclun.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business delivering a range of infrastructure and utilities projects across South Wales. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from initial procurement through to final account.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Commercially manage civil engineering and utilities projects

    * Prepare and submit applications for payment

    * Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts

    * Monitor project costs, budgets and cash flow

    * Identify, price and manage variations

    * Prepare cost value reconciliations and monthly commercial reports

    * Work closely with project managers, engineers and site teams

    * Manage contractual notices, compensation events and early warnings

    * Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with NEC contract requirements

    * Assist with the negotiation and agreement of final accounts

    Requirements

    * Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure

    * Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts is essential

    * Experience managing subcontractor accounts and project variations

    * Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills

    * Strong communication and organisational skills

    * Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

    * Full UK driving licence
