How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Purpose

Are you an experienced Technical Manager seeking an interim opportunity to make an immediate impact on high-quality residential developments? This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of technical design and engineering delivery across multiple schemes, supporting projects from land acquisition through to completion. You will play a key role in ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, commercially viable and buildable, helping to keep programmes on track and developments moving successfully through planning, procurement, construction and customer handover.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Design Management

Manage the technical design process for multiple residential developments.

Coordinate architects, engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and specialist consultants.

Review and approve technical drawings and specifications.

Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, compliant and buildable.

Monitor design programmes to ensure key project milestones are achieved.

    Planning and Approvals

Manage planning conditions and the discharge of relevant requirements.

Obtain statutory approvals including Building Regulations, highways, drainage, utilities, and environmental consents.

Liaise with local authorities, utility providers, and statutory bodies.

Ensure developments comply with current legislation and planning obligations.

    Project Delivery

Provide technical advice and support to pre-construction and construction teams.

Attend project and design team meetings.

Resolve technical queries raised during construction.

Manage design changes while minimising programme and cost impacts.

    What We're Looking For

A proven Technical Manager or senior technical professional with experience gained within a UK residential housebuilder environment.

Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and technical design processes.

Solid Understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning legislation and statutory approvals, including highways, drainage and utilities.

Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.

Ability to review, interpret, and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings

Strong project management, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to keep multiple workstreams moving.

Confident communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, consultants, local authorities, statutory bodies and other stakeholders.

Commercial awareness, including experience managing technical budgets and identifying value engineering opportunities.

Proven ability to identify and manage technical risks across projects

Close attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance and compliance

    Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

Leadership and teamwork skills, with a customer-focused approach

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.

    Desirable:

Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Architecture or a related discipline.

Membership of a professional body (e.g. CIOB, ICE, RICS, CABE)

Experience with Section 38, Section 104, Section 278 and utility adoption agreements.

If you are an experienced Technical Manager with strong residential development knowledge, technical confidence, and a proactive approach to project delivery, we would like to hear from you.

Diamond Blaque is acting as an employment business for this vacancy. We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates
