Veritas Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming, inclusive and community-centred primary school in Colne, Lancashire, to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 5 Class Teacher for a full-time maternity cover position from September 2026 to February 2027.

The school is seeking a teacher with recent Year 5 experience and a strong understanding of the Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum who can quickly become an integral member of the team and make a positive impact from the outset.

The successful candidate will:

Have recent experience teaching Year 5 or within Upper Key Stage 2.
Deliver engaging, creative and well-structured lessons that inspire curiosity and a love of learning.
Demonstrate excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills.
Set high expectations for behaviour, progress, presentation and achievement.
Use effective assessment strategies to identify next steps and support pupil progress.
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.
Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and dedicated staff team.
Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
Be committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and able to thrive.
