How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer
    Leeds

An established, privately owned Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen its Leeds team. This is an opportunity to join a growing, Director-led business with a strong reputation for delivering complex development-led projects across the residential, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, retail, logistics and regeneration sectors.

The Consultancy provides an integrated civil and structural engineering service, allowing its infrastructure engineers to remain closely involved throughout the development process. Its civil engineering work covers highways, drainage, external works, earthworks and development infrastructure, from early feasibility and planning support through to detailed design, technical approval and construction. The wider business has delivered thousands of schemes nationally and continues to benefit from a high level of repeat business.

You will take a leading role in the design and delivery of highway and drainage schemes for residential, commercial and industrial developments, working on projects ranging from individual buildings and complex brownfield sites through to large residential and multiphase developments.
The position will involve producing and reviewing drainage strategies, highway layouts, external works designs, earthworks information, technical reports, specifications and construction drawings. You will also manage the technical approval process associated with Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements, alongside other relevant highways, drainage and sewer adoption requirements.

Depending on your level of experience, you will either take ownership of your own schemes or provide wider technical leadership across several projects. This will include coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, statutory authorities and other members of the design team, attending project meetings and resolving technical challenges as developments progress.

At Senior or Principal level, you will also help oversee workloads, programmes and project resources, ensuring information is delivered accurately, commercially and to the required timescales. You will support and mentor Engineers, Technicians and Trainees, providing technical guidance while helping less experienced members of the team progress professionally.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in UK development infrastructure, particularly highways and drainage design. You should be comfortable using AutoCAD and drainage software such as MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage, with Civil 3D experience particularly beneficial. Experience delivering adoptable roads and drainage schemes and working through the associated technical agreements will be essential.

You will need to be a confident communicator with the ability to manage several projects, build effective client relationships and identify practical, innovative and cost-effective design solutions. Chartered or Incorporated status would be welcomed at Principal level, although applications are also encouraged from experienced Engineers who are actively progressing toward professional qualification.

The Consultancy has invested significantly in BIM and digital engineering, with Civil 3D, vehicle tracking, 3D modelling, workshared information and wider digital coordination forming an important part of project delivery. The business actively encourages its Engineers to explore new software, improve internal processes and introduce technology that can increase accuracy, coordination and efficiency.

In return, you will join a supportive and collaborative Leeds team where Directors remain closely involved in projects and staff development. The company offers flexible and hybrid working, an annual profit and performance-related bonus, contributory pension, private healthcare, paid professional subscriptions, support toward ICE membership and Chartership, an electric vehicle scheme, holiday purchase options, gym membership contributions and regular employee social events.
