How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Whether you've progressed from CNC machining, Quality Inspection, Toolmaking, Manufacturing Engineering or another precision engineering background, we're looking for someone with practical engineering knowledge who understands how components are manufactured, inspected and delivered to the highest standards.

    The Role

    As a Quality Engineer, you'll work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Customers and Suppliers to investigate quality issues, support New Product Introduction (NPI) and drive continuous improvement across the business.

    You'll lead root cause investigations, support product approvals, maintain quality documentation and play a key role in improving Right First Time performance within our aerospace manufacturing environment.

    What We Offer

    * Competitive salary

    * 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays

    * Company pension scheme

    * Healthcare benefits

    * Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

    * Holiday Purchase Scheme

    * Birthday leave

    * Long service awards

    * Free onsite parking

    * Career development and training opportunities

    * Supportive and collaborative working environment

    Key Responsibilities

    * Investigate manufacturing non-conformances and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (RCCA).

    * Support New Product Introduction (NPI), engineering changes and continuous improvement activities.

    * Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and product approval documentation.

    * Investigate customer and supplier quality issues, ensuring timely resolution.

    * Develop and maintain quality documentation, including Control Plans, PFMEAs, Inspection Plans and procedures.

    * Conduct internal and supplier audits while supporting compliance with AS9100.

    * Analyse quality data and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

    * Work collaboratively with Production and Engineering to improve Right First Time performance and reduce manufacturing defects.

    About You

    We're looking for a practical engineer who understands manufacturing and enjoys solving real engineering problems.

    You'll ideally have:

    * A time-served engineering background within CNC machining, Toolmaking, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Inspection or another precision engineering discipline.

    * Previous experience working as a Quality Engineer within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

    * The ability to confidently read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T.

    * Experience investigating manufacturing issues and leading Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.

    * Good knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, FAIRs, PPAP and quality management systems.

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across Production, Engineering and Quality.

    * A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement and delivering Right First Time manufacturing.

    Why Join Silcoms?

    At Silcoms, you'll join a highly skilled engineering team where quality is fundamental to everything we manufacture. You'll have the opportunity to work on complex aerospace components, influence manufacturing improvements and play a key role in delivering products that meet the highest industry standards.

    If you're a hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings, and you're ready to make a real impact in Quality Engineering, we'd love to hear from you
