How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    BMSL are recruiting on behalf of an established South Wales contractor with a strong reputation across social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment, retrofit and decarbonisation projects.

    Operating through long-standing framework agreements and partnerships with housing associations, local authorities and public-sector clients, they've continued to secure major workstreams across South Wales and the surrounding regions. This is one of the reasons they're looking to strengthen their pre-construction team with the appointment of an experienced Bid Writer.

    This is an opportunity to join a growing business with a secure pipeline of work, genuine long-term career prospects and the chance to play a key role in winning future contracts and framework opportunities.

    The Role

    Working closely with Directors, Estimators, Operational Managers and Delivery Teams, you will take responsibility for producing compelling, high-quality submissions across a range of social housing, planned works, refurbishment, maintenance, retrofit and decarbonisation contracts.

    You'll help shape bid strategy, coordinate technical input from across the business and ensure tender submissions are completed to the highest possible standard.

    Key Responsibilities

    -Writing and coordinating PQQs, SQs, tenders and framework submissions.
    -Managing the complete bid process from receipt through to submission.
    -Reviewing tender documentation and identifying key requirements.
    -Coordinating technical responses with operational and commercial teams.
    -Developing method statements, case studies and quality responses.
    -Maintaining bid content libraries and supporting documentation.
    -Supporting framework applications and public sector procurement opportunities.
    -Ensuring submissions are compliant, accurate and delivered on time.
    -Contributing to bid strategy, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

    About You

    You'll already have experience producing successful construction bids and will ideally understand the social housing, refurbishment, maintenance or retrofit sectors.

    Essential Requirements

    * Previous experience as a Bid Writer, Senior Bid Writer or Proposal Writer.

    * Experience within construction, housing, maintenance, engineering or refurbishment sectors.

    * Strong written communication and document management skills.

    * Excellent attention to detail.

    * Ability to manage multiple submissions and deadlines simultaneously.

    * Commercial awareness and understanding of tender processes.

    * Strong Microsoft Office skills.

    * Social housing experience.

    * Housing association clients.

    * Local authority contracts.

    What's On Offer

    * £50,000 - £60,000 basic salary (depending on experience).

    * Company car allowance or company vehicle.

    * Private healthcare.

    * Pension scheme.

    * Remote / Hybrid working.

    * Secure pipeline of framework work.

    * Long-term career progression opportunities.

    * Supportive and collaborative working environment.

    Why Apply?

    This is an opportunity to join a contractor with a strong reputation across South Wales, a growing order book and a significant pipeline of framework, planned works, refurbishment and retrofit work.
