How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Are you a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer looking for a genuine leadership role within a growing maritime consultancy? We are recruiting an Associate Maritime Engineer to join a thriving and fast expanding practice based in London, working closely with the Director to help shape and grow the business at an exciting stage of expansion.

    This Associate Maritime Engineer role offers real influence over the direction of the company, not just delivery of projects. You will lead complex maritime and infrastructure engineering projects from concept through to construction, act as Technical Lead across multiple schemes, and play a key part in growing the team and the business alongside senior leadership.

    Associate Maritime Engineer Role

    As Associate Maritime Engineer you will lead the delivery of complex maritime and infrastructure engineering projects, develop and strengthen client relationships, mentor and support engineers working towards Chartership, and contribute directly to the strategic growth of the business. You will work closely with clients, project managers, design engineers and group company partners, leading multidisciplinary teams and helping to expand the company's presence across the maritime and infrastructure sectors.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead delivery of complex maritime and infrastructure engineering projects from concept through construction
    Act as Technical Lead, providing specialist engineering expertise across all project stages
    Develop and maintain strong client relationships while identifying new business opportunities
    Prepare and review technical proposals, fee estimates and tender submissions
    Lead multidisciplinary design teams and manage engineering interfaces across projects
    Provide technical oversight, review and approval of designs, calculations and reports
    Mentor and support engineers and graduates, including those working towards Chartership
    Help shape technical standards, quality procedures and best practice
    Work closely with Directors on business planning, resource management and strategic growth
    Support recruitment and help grow the engineering team
    Represent the business at client meetings, industry events and professional networksWhat We're Looking For

    Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE
    Degree or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
    8+ years' experience in civil or structural engineering consultancy
    Background in heavy civils, infrastructure or bridge engineering design, maritime experience advantageous but not essential
    Proven track record leading complex engineering projects and managing client relationships
    Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers
    Strong commercial awareness, including fee proposals and project budget management
