How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Package Manager – Major Construction Project
    Location: Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire
Sector: Major Construction / Tier 1 Main Contractor
    Project Value: £60m+
    Contract: Permanent
Blue Water Recruitment are currently looking to speak with experienced Package Managers for an opportunity with a leading Tier 1 main contractor delivering a major construction project in Milford Haven.
Due to the confidential and security-sensitive nature of the project, there is limited information regarding the client, project and scope that can be disclosed during the initial stages of the recruitment process.
Candidates progressing through the process will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before further confidential project information can be provided.
We are therefore particularly interested in construction professionals who are comfortable operating within secure, confidential and highly controlled project environments.
    The Role
As Package Manager, you will be a key member of the Project Leadership Team, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of a designated package of works on a major construction project valued in excess of £60 million.
You will manage your package from planning and mobilisation through construction, coordination and completion, ensuring that safety, quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
Working closely with the wider project team, you will coordinate subcontractors, consultants and key stakeholders while maintaining control of programme, interfaces, risk and quality throughout delivery.
    Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of a designated construction package from planning through to completion.
Manage subcontractors and specialist contractors to ensure successful package delivery.
Coordinate multiple trades and manage interfaces between different work packages.
Develop and monitor short-term programmes and package delivery plans.
Monitor progress against programme and implement recovery measures where required.
Identify construction, programme and interface risks at an early stage and develop appropriate solutions.
Ensure works are delivered safely and in accordance with project health & safety requirements.
Monitor workmanship and ensure required quality standards and specifications are achieved.
Review drawings, specifications, technical information and construction methodologies.
Coordinate with design, engineering, commercial and operational teams.
Manage RFIs, technical queries and package-specific issues throughout construction.
Support procurement and mobilisation of subcontract packages where required.
Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure contractual and project requirements are achieved.
Lead package progress meetings and communicate effectively with the wider Project Leadership Team.
Maintain accurate reporting on progress, risks, programme and package performance.
Build effective working relationships with subcontractors, consultants and key project stakeholders.
Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and information control throughout project delivery.
    Essential Experience
    Candidates should demonstrate:
Previous experience as a Package Manager, Construction Manager, Senior Site Manager or equivalent delivering significant packages of construction works.
Experience working on large-scale building or infrastructure projects, ideally with overall project values exceeding £60 million.
Strong main contractor/Tier 1 construction experience.
Proven experience managing subcontractors and specialist trade packages.
Strong understanding of site operations, construction methodology and sequencing.
Ability to coordinate multiple trades and complex package interfaces.
Experience developing, monitoring and working to construction programmes.
Ability to identify programme and delivery risks and implement appropriate solutions.
Strong understanding of construction health & safety and quality requirements.
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
Degree qualification or equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Studies or another relevant discipline.
    SMSTS.
Appropriate CSCS Black or White Card as a minimum.
    Security & Confidentiality
Due to the nature of the project, confidentiality and the ability to operate effectively within a security-controlled environment are important requirements of the position.
Candidates should be comfortable progressing through a recruitment process where certain information regarding the client, project and scope cannot initially be disclosed.
Further information will be made available to suitable candidates at the appropriate stage and will be subject to completion of an NDA.
Previous experience working within secure, defence, nuclear, energy, critical infrastructure or other highly regulated construction environments would be advantageous.
Existing relevant security clearance and/or BPSS would also be beneficial.
    Desirable
Experience working on projects operating under NEC forms of contract.
    Existing relevant security clearance.
    BPSS.
Experience within secure or high-compliance project environments.
    First Aid at Work qualification.
Experience delivering major or technically complex construction packages.
    The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant package of works on a major, high-value and confidential construction project with a leading Tier 1 contractor.
The position would particularly suit an experienced Package Manager or senior construction professional accustomed to working on complex projects where programme, subcontractor management, technical coordination, safety, quality and stakeholder management are critical.
If you have experience delivering significant construction packages and would be interested in a confidential discussion, please submit your CV.
Please note: Due to the confidential nature of the project, Blue Water Recruitment will only be able to provide limited project information during the initial stages. Candidates progressing further will be asked to complete an NDA before additional project details are disclosed
