How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor - Water Infrastructure

    Location: Peterborough (4 Days On Site / 1 Day Working From Home)
    Salary: £40,000 - £59,000 + Excellent Package

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major water and utilities infrastructure projects across the East of England.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within the water sector, working on long-term framework projects alongside an experienced commercial team. The successful candidate will have previous experience within water, utilities or civil engineering and be confident managing the commercial aspects of projects from inception through to final account.

    The Role:

    As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

    Managing the commercial delivery of water and utilities projects.
    Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
    Administering NEC contracts, including compensation events and change management.
    Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and account settlements.
    Producing cost forecasts, CVRs and monthly commercial reports.
    Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
    Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
    Supporting procurement activities and supply chain management.
    Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the water, utilities or civil engineering sectors.
    Experience working on water infrastructure frameworks is highly desirable.
    Good understanding of NEC contracts.
    Strong commercial awareness and cost management experience.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
    Full UK driving licence.
