The Role
A leading food manufacturing business is strengthening its operations team with the appointment of an Assistant Production Manager. The site continues to grow and evolve, creating a genuine opportunity for someone who wants to step into a broader leadership role and play a key part in driving performance, standards and continuous improvement.
You will support the Production Manager in leading the manufacturing area, ensuring output targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, food safety, quality and GMP. The role requires a hands on leader who can manage people effectively, build engagement, drive accountability and deliver improvements through structured processes and strong communication.

Key Responsibilities
Manage labour, materials, waste, health and safety, quality and GMP across the production area
Ensure SOPs and quality standards are current, available and fully understood
Ensure safety and quality checks are completed correctly and on time Set clear performance targets and communicate expectations across the team
Ensure accurate and timely use of the Dynamics system Maintain food safety, quality, legality and integrity across production, storage and packaging
Ensure individuals have the tools, knowledge and skills required to perform Build an engaged, accountable and high performing team
Drive continuous improvement and support value added engagement activities
Identify training needs and work with internal support functions to deliver development Role model strong performance and behaviour and address poor performance promptly
Coach, mentor and train team members to support progression and succession Lead the team through change in a structured, respectful and effective way
Promote a culture of honesty, equality, diversity and cross functional collaboration
Lead daily production meetings, report results and drive actions Attend planning meetings and sign off production plans Support site wide initiatives, projects and NPD activity
Attend ad hoc meetings and contribute to improvement and rectification plans
The Person
Demonstrable management experience within food manufacturing or FMCG
Strong leadership capability with a proven track record of managing teams
Quality focused with excellent attention to detail
Confident decision maker and problem solver
Able to implement and manage change effectively Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, procedures and technical requirements
IT literate with good numerical accuracy
Engaging, structured and able to build strong cross functional relationships
Ambitious, proactive and ready to step into a broader leadership role
