Main duties and responsibilities
Logistics and Compliance Porter
Summary:
Provide an effective reactive maintenance and compliance response on behalf of the Logistics and Facilities Centre. The work involves close liaison with the wider Facilities and Estates teams, Service Delivery and Compliance Managers, Campus Service Teams, alongside all Facilities and Estates staff, other university stakeholders, and contractors. The post holder will also support logistics, cleaning, and emergency response functions during peak operational periods.
Accountabilities and responsibilities:
Timely collection and distribution of linen to ensure smooth transitions between student departures and incoming conference guests. * Swift removal and delivery of furniture and white goods to minimise student complaints and enhance new arrivals' experiences. * Efficient transport and storage of housekeeping supplies, ensuring teams are fully equipped, particularly during peak transition periods. * Deep cleaning tasks, including carpet shampooing, mattress replacements, and mould removal, to maintain hygiene standards. * Prompt waste removal from bedrooms and communal areas to enable efficient housekeeping operations. * Emergency response to floods and maintenance issues to minimise disruption and ensure a safe living environment. * Practical assistance in staff induction and training programmes. * Use of staff/student computer data systems * Coordinating relocations due to lift outages or last-minute adjustments to ensure minimal disruption. * Managing student departure waste removal to maintain hygiene in kitchens and rooms. * Overseeing bike shed cleaning, hoover maintenance, and facility upkeep to maintain a polished, guest-ready environment.
Other Duties.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required and commensurate with the grade of post in accordance with university and departmental policies, procedures and codes of conduct. Adhere to and comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and the Health and Safety at Work Act in accordance with university policies. Promote the University's Environmental Policy and demonstrate commitment to it through actions and decision making. Actively participate in on going professional development activities as requested.
