How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    M&E Engineer 

    Bristol/Swindon
    £45,000 - £55,000

    A leading independent sustainability and engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced M&E Engineer to join its talented team, based in Bristol or Swindon on a permanent, full-time basis, with hybrid working.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a driven engineer passionate about sustainable building design to join a multi-disciplinary team. Candidates should bring experience from a major M&E engineering consultancy, along with an appreciation of sustainability, renewable energy technologies, thermodynamics, and energy systems. Experience across both mechanical and electrical engineering is preferred, though candidates specialising in one discipline are also welcome to apply.

    The Role:

    Leading the design, planning, and coordination of a variety of projects
    Managing key clients and attending design team meetings
    Working with design teams including architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, and specialist consultants
    Attending site visits to inspect building services installations
    Advising on building services aspects of BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes
    Carrying out computer thermal modelling of buildings to assess energy use
    Advising on building-integrated renewable energy
    Producing CAD drawings using AutoCAD or similar
    Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team membersWhat's Required:

    Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
    Experience working on projects across a range of sectors
    Experience in client-facing roles, including attending client meetings
    Ability to design and deliver projects to a high quality, from concept to completion
    Ability to consider safety in design and develop solutions that eliminate health and safety risks
    Good working knowledge of other Building Services disciplines
    Chartered Engineer status, or working towards membership of a recognised professional institution (e.g. CIBSE, IET), preferredWhat's on Offer:
