How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is a well-established and growing fire safety consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality fire risk assessment and compliance services across commercial, residential, industrial and public sector properties.

    Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Fire Risk Assessor to join their team covering Barnsley and the surrounding areas.     The Role

    As a Fire Risk Assessor, you will be responsible for carrying out comprehensive fire risk assessments in accordance with current fire safety legislation and industry best practice. You will work across a varied portfolio of properties, providing practical recommendations and ensuring clients remain compliant with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.

    Key Responsibilities

    Conduct Type 1, 2 and 3 fire risk assessments across a diverse range of premises.
    Produce detailed, accurate and compliant fire risk assessment reports.
    Identify fire safety risks and provide practical recommendations for improvement.
    Liaise professionally with clients, contractors and internal teams.
    Keep up to date with changes in fire safety legislation and guidance.
    Manage your own workload and diary efficiently while maintaining high service standards.

    Requirements

    Previous experience working as a Fire Risk Assessor.
    A recognised fire risk assessment qualification (such as FRA, NEBOSH Fire Safety, CFPA Europe, or equivalent).
    Strong understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and current fire safety guidance.
    Excellent report writing and communication skills.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

    Desirable

    Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. IFSM, IFE or equivalent).
    Experience assessing a variety of commercial, residential and public sector buildings.
