How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering role available!

    Location: Northampton (Hybrid Working)
    Salary: £55,000 - £59,000 + Excellent Package
    Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence Required

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Tier 1 specialist civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-established commercial team, working on high-profile civil engineering schemes while benefiting from a hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will have strong commercial experience within the civil engineering sector and a thorough understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.

    The Role

    As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

    Managing the commercial performance of civil engineering projects from commencement through to final account.
    Administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including compensation events, early warnings and change management.
    Preparing valuations, applications for payment and cost reports.
    Managing subcontract procurement, payments and final accounts.
    Producing accurate cost forecasts, CVRs and financial reporting.
    Identifying commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project profitability.
    Supporting project teams with commercial advice and contract administration.
    Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
    Ensuring commercial compliance with company procedures and contractual requirements.

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector.
    Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts is essential.
    Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor or specialist civil engineering contractor is highly desirable.
    Excellent commercial, negotiation and analytical skills.
    Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
    Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to project sites as required.
