How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor (Fit Out & Refurbishment)
    Location: Bristol
    Salary: £50,000–£60,000
     Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

    We are working with a growing fit out and refurbishment contractor delivering high-quality projects across Bristol, the South West and surrounding regions. Working across commercial offices, education, healthcare, retail, industrial and public sector environments, they pride theirselves on delivering projects safely, collaboratively and to an exceptional standard.
    Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen our commercial team.

    The Role

    As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for a range of fit out and refurbishment projects, from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Contracts Managers and Site Teams, you'll ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with around 3–6 years' experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and expanding contractor.
    Key Responsibilities
    Manage the commercial delivery of multiple fit out and refurbishment projects.
    Prepare cost plans, budgets and procurement schedules.
    Procure and manage subcontractor packages, including tender analysis and contract negotiations.
    Prepare and submit applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
    Assess and agree subcontractor applications and variations.
    Manage project costs, cash flow and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle.
    Identify, price and negotiate variations and change control.
    Produce accurate monthly cost reports and commercial forecasts.
    Administer contracts and ensure compliance with JCT terms and conditions.
    Work closely with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability.
    Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
    Support the Commercial Manager in managing commercial risk and identifying opportunities for value engineering.About You

    They are looking for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with experience delivering refurbishment or fit out projects in fast-paced environments.
    Essential
    3–6 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
    Previous experience working for a fit out, refurbishment or main contractor.
    Good understanding of JCT contracts.
    Experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial reporting.
    Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial software.
    Full UK driving licence.Desirable
    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
    Experience delivering projects valued between £250k and £10m.
    Knowledge of commercial interiors, CAT A/CAT B office fit out, education, healthcare or occupied refurbishment projects.
    Working towards or holding MRICS or MCIOB accreditation.What they Offer
