How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Internal Sales Engineer / Valves Product Specialist

    Location: Skelmersdale

    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

    About the Role

We are a leading fluid power solutions provider, supplying and supporting hydraulics, pneumatics and process engineering products and systems across the UK and beyond. Alongside a broad product range sourced from thousands of trusted brand and supplier partners, we deliver a full range of engineering services — including design, manufacture, assembly, installation, commissioning, testing, servicing, repair and overhaul — as well as major end-to-end engineering projects. We are seeking an experienced Internal Sales Engineer / Valves Product Specialist to join our team in Skelmersdale. This is a customer-facing, office-based role covering the full sales order cycle — from initial enquiry and quotation through to order fulfilment — supporting customer accounts and ensuring a high standard of service throughout.

Beyond general sales support, this role carries a strong technical focus on valves and actuation. You will act as an internal point of reference for valve product knowledge, helping customers and colleagues select the right valve or actuator for their application, advising on technical specifications, and supporting the wider sales team with in-depth product expertise across our valves and actuation range. You will build detailed knowledge of the valves product portfolio, keep up to date with new products and technical developments, and act as a go-to resource for more complex or non-standard valve enquiries.

This role would suit someone with a background in valves, actuators, or a related fluid power/engineering product sector, who enjoys getting into the detail of products and applications, and who is looking to build a career within a growing and progressive business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Prepare quotations and provide technical information in line with customer requirements

    * Handle incoming enquiries via phone and email, acting as a key point of contact for customers

    * Manage and develop customer accounts, building strong working relationships

    * Oversee orders from point of sale through to delivery, liaising with suppliers to meet agreed timescales

    * Input and progress orders, keeping customers updated throughout the process

    * Maintain accurate sales and quality records in line with company procedures

    * Liaise with suppliers and internal colleagues to resolve queries efficiently

    * Identify new business opportunities through customer contact and quotation activity

    * Act as an internal valves product specialist, advising customers and colleagues on technical specifications and suitable valve/actuator solutions

    * Build and maintain in-depth knowledge of the valves and actuation product portfolio, keeping up to date with new products and developments

    * Support colleagues within the sales team as required

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * Experience in an internal sales, sales support, or technical sales administration role

    * Background within valves, actuators, hydraulics, fluid power, or a related technical/engineering sector

    * Experience preparing quotations and handling technical customer enquiries

    * Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines

    * Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with customers, suppliers, and colleagues

    * A proactive, hard-working, and reliable approach, with a genuine desire to progress within the business

    Desirable Skills & Experience

    * Experience working with quality/ISO 9001 documentation and procedures

    * Relevant industry training or qualifications

    * A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
