How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new company

An award-winning, Legal 500-recognised law firm with a strong reputation across the North is seeking an Industrial Disease Solicitor or Associate to join its expanding defendant insurance team in Manchester. The firm is recognised for its collaborative culture, commitment to professional development, and expertise in delivering high-quality legal services to a broad insurance client base.

    Your new role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor or Associate with defendant insurance experience to join a well-established industrial disease practice. You will manage a varied caseload of litigated and pre-litigated industrial disease claims on behalf of insurer and corporate clients.
    Your caseload will include:

Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) claims
Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) claims
    Asbestos-related disease claims, including mesothelioma
    Occupational asthma claims
    Dermatitis claims
    Work-related stress claims
You will be responsible for handling matters from inception through to resolution, providing strategic legal advice to clients, drafting legal documentation, attending court and tribunal hearings, and conducting advocacy where appropriate. You will also build and maintain strong client relationships and support wider business development initiatives.

    What you'll need to succeed

Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX)
    Between 1-5 years' PQE
Experience handling defendant industrial disease claims
Proven ability to manage your own caseload and work to deadlines
Experience attending court and tribunal hearings, with advocacy experience preferred
Strong client relationship and communication skills
Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to case management
Commitment to delivering excellent client service
Previous involvement in business development activities would be advantageous but is not essential.

    What you'll get in return

Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
    Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
Genuine career progression opportunities within a growing team
Ongoing training and professional development support
Enhanced annual leave entitlement, with the option to purchase additional leave
Enhanced family-friendly policies and sick pay provisions
    Private healthcare and wellbeing support
Profit share scheme and additional employee benefits
    Supportive and collaborative working environment
