How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them build positive futures?

    We are currently recruiting Residential Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting young people aged 14–17 across three residential homes in Basildon.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to work for a supportive, family-run organisation that is committed to developing its staff and providing excellent care to the young people they support.

    About the Young People

    The young people you will support may have experienced significant trauma and challenging life experiences. They may have been victims of criminal exploitation or child sexual exploitation or be considered vulnerable or at risk within their communities.

    As a result, some young people may display challenging behaviours. You will need to be patient, resilient and able to remain calm and consistent while providing a safe, nurturing environment.

    You will work on a 2:1 staffing ratio, allowing you to provide focused support and build meaningful relationships with the young people.

    The Role

    As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

    * Build positive, trusting relationships with young people

    * Engage with young people and take an active interest in their lives

    * Learn about their interests, hobbies and individual personalities

    * Read and follow individual care plans

    * Support young people to develop life skills and make positive choices

    * Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviours

    * Help create a safe, stable and supportive home environment

    * Work effectively as part of a dedicated care team

    * Provide consistent support in line with each young person's individual needs

    Shift Pattern & Flexibility

    You will need to be flexible and available to work both day and night shifts:

    * Day shifts: 8am–8pm

    * Night shifts: 8pm–8am

    * Minimum of 3 shifts per week

    Shifts are managed through the company's own rota app. While flexibility is essential, the team will do their best to offer shifts that work around your preferences where possible.

    Training & Development

    You don't need to already hold restraint training, but you must be willing to complete the required training.

    The training is a 2-day, face-to-face course in Romford, with one training date usually available each month towards the end of the month.

    The training costs £300, which is fully funded by the company. However, if you leave or drop out before completing 12 weeks of work, you will be required to repay the training cost. You will be asked to sign an agreement confirming your understanding of this arrangement, including the potential for the cost to be deducted.

    The company will also support you in completing a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification. This can provide excellent opportunities for career progression, including the potential to progress into a Senior Support Worker role.

    Why Join?

    * £35,000 per year once permanent

    * Opportunities for temp-to-perm employment

    * Full funding for required restraint training

    * Support to achieve a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification

    * Clear opportunities for career progression

    * Supportive, hands-on family-run organisation

    * Employee of the Month recognition and prizes

    * Work alongside a dedicated and experienced team

    * Opportunity to make a genuine difference to vulnerable young people's lives

    We have already successfully placed three members of staff with the organisation on a temp-to-perm basis and all three have since moved into permanent positions.

    If you're compassionate, resilient and passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people, we'd love to hear from you.
