How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

About the Client/Child Theo is an engaging 9-year-old who is happiest when he is busy and on the move. He loves swimming, water play, messy play, music, climbing, trampolining and time outdoors. He also enjoys calm indoor spaces when he needs to decompress. Theo is autistic, non-verbal and has ADHD, global delay and sensory processing difficulties. He communicates his needs by taking adults to what he wants, using simple signals and with communication boards at school. He understands well when instructions are kept simple and calmly delivered, and he responds best to a patient, reassuring approach.

The Role at a Glance This is a varied and rewarding role supporting Theo after school and at weekends, helping him transition from school, engage in his favourite activities, and remain safe and regulated through calm, consistent routines. The role includes support with after-school routines, meals, personal care, and a range of indoor and outdoor activities such as swimming, outdoor play, sensory activities and community outings. Close supervision is required at all times, particularly in kitchens, bathrooms and community settings, as Theo can become unsettled if unwell, uncomfortable or overwhelmed. Weekend hours are planned in advance to support predictability and work–life balance. Theo sleeps through the night, so overnight disturbance is unlikely. Both parents are doctors and may have occasional on-call commitments; any flexibility required is always agreed in advance. During school holidays, weekday hours may vary slightly but are planned and confirmed ahead of time.

This Job Would Suit This role suits someone experienced with autistic children and/or additional needs who is calm, energetic, confident with de-escalation, and comfortable supporting personal care and active play. Drivers are essential due to rural location.

Why You’ll Love This Role The family has created a warm, spacious and well equipped home, with dedicated indoor and outdoor space designed around Theo's needs. There is plenty of room for him to play, stay calm and enjoy his favourite activities. If you enjoy making a meaningful difference to a child's life while working in a supportive setting, this role offers real purpose as well as flexibility and variety.
