How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    GBR Recruitment Ltd are proudly working in exclusive partnership with a fantastic Huntingdon based charity, recruiting for a permanent part time Grants Officer to head up the end to end management of all grant applications, right from the initial grant request, to application review, all the way through to the final grant award / approval, supporting both local Huntingdonshire based individuals & other local organisations that are in need of help to achieve their goals.

    This is a wonderful opportunity for a super organised office administrator, coordinator or business support professional who has knowledge of the UK benefits system & who can pull together various key documents to compile reports & to present individual grant cases to the board of Trustee's with all the information required to hand.

    This is an ideal opening for someone with previous Charity / NFP experience, for someone who wants to support others in need & to give back to their local Huntingdon community.

    The role is a permanent part time opportunity, working from 10am to 3pm (20 hours in total per week, 5 hours per day) working Monday to Thursday each week.

    Duties:

    * Manage the grant application process from initial enquiry through to Trustee decision and award.

    * Provide a confidential, empathetic and professional service to applicants, partner organisations and professionals.

    * Assess grant applications against the Trust's eligibility criteria, policies and charitable objectives.

    * Conduct financial assessments and means testing for individual applicants, reviewing income, expenditure and supporting evidence.

    * Liaise with applicants to obtain additional information and supporting documentation where required.

    * Carry out applicant interviews by telephone, at the Trust office or through site visits where appropriate.

    * Prepare clear, accurate and impartial reports and recommendations for Trustee meetings.

    * Attend monthly Trustee meetings (outside of usual working hours) to present applications and answer questions where required.

    * Notify applicants of Trustee decisions and ensure all correspondence is completed promptly.

    * Process grant awards, purchase goods and services, raise payment requests and maintain accurate financial records.

    * Maintain accurate records on the Trust's grant management database, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.

    * Assist with monitoring the impact of grants and gathering case studies where appropriate.

    * Identify safeguarding or welfare concerns and work appropriately with partner agencies where necessary.

    * Develop positive relationships with local voluntary organisations, schools, health professionals and statutory agencies to improve awareness of the Trust's support.

    * Promote the Trust's grants through outreach activities, presentations and community engagement.

    * Support the administration of the Trust's educational, school and organisational grant programmes.

    * General office support and administration

    * Supporting the CEO with other tasks

    Attributes:

    * Strong office administrator / coordinator or business support professional

    * Strong knowledge of the UK's benefit system & individuals rights

    * Previous Charity / NFP experience is highly beneficial

    * Knowledge of how grants work would be beneficial but not a must

    * Empathy to deal with those less fortunate

    * A passion for giving back

    * Able to commit to 10am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday
