How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Specialist SEN Tutor - Autism (ASC), SLD & ADHD | £35 per Hour

    Location: Southend-on-Sea

    Pay: £35.00 per hour (PAYE) + 1 paid hour of Planning, Preparation & Assessment (PPA) per day + all teaching resources provided

    Job Type: Long-Term Contract

    Hours: Monday-Friday | 9:30am-2:30pm

    Start Date: September 2026 (Meet & Greet with the family during the summer holidays)

    New Chapter Tuition is looking for an experienced Specialist SEN Tutor to support a young person with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism (ASC) and ADHD, who is non-verbal and presents with social and communication difficulties.

    This is a rewarding long-term opportunity for a tutor who is passionate about providing personalised, relationship-led support and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

    You will work as part of a 3:1 support team, alongside two experienced Support Workers, delivering structured, engaging sessions that promote communication, emotional regulation, independence and life skills.

    The Role

    As a Specialist SEN Tutor, you will:

    * Deliver personalised 1:1 teaching tailored to the learner's EHCP outcomes and individual needs.

    * Build a positive, trusting relationship through consistency, patience and a person-centred approach.

    * Support communication, engagement and emotional regulation throughout each session.

    * Deliver activities using strategies including:

    * Sensory play

    * Social Stories

    * Zones of Regulation

    * Now & Next

    * Structured games and play-based learning

    * Bubble play

    * Life skills activities

    * Adapt sessions to meet the learner's communication style, interests and sensory needs.

    * Work collaboratively with the wider support team and family to ensure consistency, engagement and progress.

    About You

    We're looking for someone who:

    * Has substantial experience tutoring or teaching young people with SEND.

    * Has proven experience supporting learners with SLD, Autism (ASC), ADHD and non-verbal communication.

    * Is confident supporting behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support strategies.

    * Has strong de-escalation, emotional regulation and re-engagement skills.

    * Understands trauma-informed practice and the importance of building positive relationships.

    * Is patient, adaptable, creative and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every learner.

    What We Offer

    * £35.00 per hour (PAYE).

    * One paid hour per day for Planning and Preparation equating to £42 per hour

    * All teaching resources and learning materials provided.

    * Consistent long-term hours, Monday-Friday, 9:30am-2:30pm.

    * Meet & Greet with the learner and family during the summer holidays before tuition begins.

    * Dedicated Consultant and ongoing support throughout your placement.

    * Free CPD, safeguarding and specialist SEND training.
