How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Civil Engineer

    Bath

    £38k-£44k plus benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer with experience in drainage and flood risk to join a highly respected engineering consultancy in Bath. Working on a diverse portfolio of complex infrastructure projects across the UK, this role offers the chance to develop innovative engineering solutions on schemes where no two projects are the same.

Our client has built an outstanding reputation for delivering bespoke drainage and infrastructure designs for prestigious developments, including heritage sites, university campuses, private estates and nationally significant projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to broaden their technical expertise while working on challenging and rewarding schemes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in producing Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and SuDS designs, undertaking drainage calculations, designing surface and foul water systems, and preparing applications for statutory authorities and water companies. The role also involves working closely with clients, local authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities and the Environment Agency, with opportunities to undertake site inspections and supervise specialist investigations.

Applicants should have at least 2 years' consultancy experience and a good understanding of UK drainage design, flood risk and sustainable drainage principles. Experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports, along with strong report writing and communication skills, is essential. A degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline), a full UK driving licence and the ability to obtain CTC/Level 1B Security Clearance are required. Progress towards Chartership with ICE or CIWEM would be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing consultancy where career progression, technical development and increased responsibility are actively encouraged.
