How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Volantes Renewables Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Electrical Field Service Engineer to join a growing team supporting electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the UK.

    This is an exciting opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer who enjoys working in the field, solving technical challenges, and delivering first-class customer service. You'll be responsible for commissioning, servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of AC, Rapid DC, Ultra-Fast and High-Power Charging (HPC) EV charging systems at customer sites nationwide.

    Working independently, you'll ensure charging equipment remains safe, reliable and operating at peak performance while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance and customer satisfaction.

    The Role

    As an Electrical Field Service Engineer, you'll work across a variety of commercial and industrial locations, carrying out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs and commissioning of EV charging infrastructure.

    This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on position, is comfortable travelling throughout the UK, and takes pride in delivering exceptional technical support.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Commission, configure and test AC, Rapid DC, Ultra-Fast and HPC EV charging systems.

    * Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise charger reliability and uptime.

    * Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and software-related faults.

    * Perform firmware updates, system calibration and diagnostic testing where required.

    * Replace faulty components and, where necessary, complete charger replacements in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

    * Provide on-site technical support and user guidance to customers.

    * Work closely with Service Coordination, Operations and Project Management teams to ensure efficient delivery of service activities.

    * Support installation teams during project commissioning to ensure seamless integration with customer infrastructure.

    * Complete accurate service reports and maintain detailed records using the service management system.

    * Maintain company tools, vehicles and testing equipment, reporting defects promptly.

    * Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with current electrical regulations and company procedures.

    * Comply with all Health & Safety requirements and participate in ongoing safety training.

    About You

    We're looking for an experienced field engineer who enjoys working independently, solving problems and delivering excellent service in a customer-facing environment.

    Essential Requirements

    * NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification.

    * Minimum two years' experience in a field-based engineering role involving commissioning, maintenance or repair of electrical equipment.

    * Experience working independently on customer sites.

    * Experience working within SLA-driven service environments.

    * Familiarity with electrical testing equipment including multimeters and voltage testers.

    * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

    * Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

    * Strong organisational and time management skills.

    * Full UK Driving Licence with no more than six penalty points.

    Desirable

    * BS7671:2018 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations).

    * City & Guilds 2391/2394 Inspection & Testing.

    * Experience within the EV charging, renewable energy or power electronics sectors.

    * Manufacturer-specific EV charging training or certification.

    * Hands-on experience commissioning and maintaining Rapid DC, Ultra-Fast and HPC charging systems.

    * Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.

    * Knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.

    * Strong understanding of electrical safety and site Health & Safety requirements.

    If you're an experienced Electrical Field Service Engineer looking to develop your career within the rapidly growing EV infrastructure sector, we'd love to hear from you.
