How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Machine Shop Operative

    Middleton, Greater Manchester

    £14.20 per hour + 15% Shift Allowance (Inside IR35/Umbrella)

    6 Month Initial Contract with Extension and Potential Permanent Opportunities

    Excellent opportunity for a Semi Skilled Machine Shop Operative with manufacturing or engineering experience looking for an immediately available contract with a global engineering business offering long term opportunities.

    Do you have experience using hand tools, grinding equipment or working with metal components? Are you looking to join a well established manufacturer offering training, long term stability and the opportunity to secure a permanent position?

    This company are a global engineering manufacturer supplying specialist products to customers worldwide. Due to continued growth they are looking to recruit a Semi Skilled Machine Shop Operative to join their Middleton manufacturing facility.

    In this role you will carry out deburring, polishing and finishing of precision engineered components, along with part marking, painting, production administration and general housekeeping duties. You will use hand and grinding tools while working to high quality and health and safety standards within a busy machine shop. This role is based on a rotating double days shift pattern with early finishes on Fridays.

    The role would suit someone with previous manufacturing or engineering experience working with metal components. Experience in a machine shop environment would be advantageous, and an FLT licence is desirable but not essential.

    The Role:

    Deburring, polishing and finishing precision engineered components
    Using hand tools and grinding equipment
    Production administration and general housekeeping
    Rotating double days shift pattern with early finishes on Fridays
