How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HM1480 - Business Development Manager – Covering London

    This is a hybrid role 4 days per week in the field with 1 day per week working in the Crawley office

    Candidates need to hold a FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE and live within a commutable distance of Crawley

    Basic salary £60,000 to £70,000 plus annual profit share, company car, 33 days holidays, excellent pension, laptop, mobile. Candidates must be prepared to travel at least 3 days per week and entertain customers during evenings 1 night per month

    My client is a leading distributor of fibre and copper network products and cabling solutions for the telecom, security and network cabling markets and offer complete installation and testing solutions, including cable, connectors, panels, cabinets and related items.

    They are now seeking a Business Development Manager for London to supply IT infrastructure products, including fibre optic and copper cabling solutions, for data centres and office buildings by:

    * Developing close relationships with suppliers, major installers/system integrators and, where possible, end users

    * Building product and brand awareness with consultants and specifiers on active projects

    * Expanding the customer database

    Candidate Profile

    Experience and technical background

    * Proven external sales experience in electrical wholesale or data networks, ideally selling to installers and engaging with specifiers.

    * Technical sales background; a degree or HNC/HND in a relevant technical subject would be desirable.

    * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a confident and professional telephone manner.

    * A natural networker who builds strong relationships and delivers exceptional service across a diverse customer base.

    Duties

    Sales performance and growth

    * Achieve gross profit objectives in line with agreed targets.

    * Grow revenue and gross profit from existing customers.

    * Expand the customer database by identifying and contacting new prospects and additional contacts within existing accounts.

    Key account partnerships

    * Develop long-term partnerships with target key accounts, including end users and installers.

    * Provide technical product and tailored solution proposals that position the company and its partners to win future business through a differentiated offer.

    * Understand each prospect’s needs, goals, plans, challenges, timelines, budgets and key decision makers or influencers to deliver added customer value and maximise margin potential.

    Pipeline and project delivery

    * Work with suppliers, installers and, where possible, end users to research potential projects and build a measurable sales pipeline aligned with company targets.

    * Anticipate project requirements and coordinate internal and supplier actions to support excellent project delivery, key account management and customer satisfaction.

    * Position the company as a preferred partner for project delivery, customer service and technical support
