How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The facility is UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 accredited. The team also provides expert technical advice and evaluation, supports high profile projects, and responds to high priority demands to meet the needs of defence and industry.

    Who are we looking for?

Have good attention to detail and ability to closely follow work instructions / publications, in order to deliver accurate and traceable calibration records.
Experience of safe working practices, operating electronic equipment safely within a quality-controlled environment.
Ability to conduct routine equipment checks and basic testing. (Functionality checks and using defined checklists)

While this isn't a checklist, we'd love to hear from you if you have experience in any of the following areas:

Working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab environment, regulated industry, or environment requiring strict procedural compliance.
Experience calibrating or maintaining radiation protection monitoring equipment or dose rate instruments.
Working in a customer facing team that delivers technically complex services in an area with stringent technical requirements.
Experience working with radiological equipment, check sources and understanding of radiological safety procedures and associated documentation.

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

    Work hard, be rewarded:

We ask a lot and set the bar high because our work truly matters. In return we offer balance, with award winning benefits including:

    270 hours of annual leave.
Market leading contributory pension scheme (we will pay between 9% and 13% of your pensionable pay depending on your contributions).
Family friendly policies: Maternity Leave - 39 Weeks Full Pay and Paternity Leave - 4 Weeks Full Pay.
