How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Health & Safety Manager

    Location: Central London
    Project Values: £3m-£10m
    Sector: Commercial Office Fit-Out (Design & Build & Traditional)

    We are a leading principal contractor delivering high-quality commercial office fit-out projects across Central London. With a strong reputation for excellence, collaboration and repeat business, we are looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and continually develop our health, safety and wellbeing culture across the business.

    This is a senior role offering the opportunity to influence projects from pre-construction through to completion while acting as a trusted advisor to both operational teams and senior leadership.

    The Role

    Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will take ownership of the company's Health & Safety strategy, ensuring legal compliance while driving continuous improvement across all projects and business operations.

    You will work closely with pre-construction, commercial, operational and supply chain teams to ensure health and safety is embedded from the earliest stages of every project.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the company's Health & Safety function across multiple live projects.
    Provide strategic health and safety leadership throughout the business.
    Review and advise on pre-construction information, tender submissions and construction methodologies.
    Support project teams in planning safe delivery from design through to completion.
    Carry out regular site inspections, audits and behavioural safety reviews.
    Develop and maintain company policies, procedures and management systems.
    Lead investigations into incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
    Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory bodies.
    Manage and develop the company's supply chain from a health and safety perspective, ensuring consistent standards across all subcontractors.
    Deliver training, coaching and guidance to operational teams.
    Monitor legislative changes and ensure ongoing compliance with current UK Health & Safety legislation.
    Produce reports, KPIs and board-level updates on health and safety performance.

    About You

    We're looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with excellent interpersonal skills and has the confidence to lead from the front.

    You will have:

    Extensive Health & Safety experience within the construction industry.
    Strong experience working for a principal contractor delivering commercial fit-out projects.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Proven pre-construction knowledge, with the ability to influence safe design and planning.
    A thorough understanding of supply chain management and subcontractor engagement.
    The confidence, credibility and authority to act as the business's Health & Safety lead.
    A collaborative approach with the ability to challenge where necessary while maintaining positive working relationships.
    Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Qualifications

    NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma (preferred).
    Relevant IOSH Membership (CMIOSH preferred).
    Full understanding of CDM Regulations 2015.
    Knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems would be advantageous.
