How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The Technical Buyer will play a key role in establishing and developing the procurement function as the company transitions from prototype development into low-volume production.
Working closely with engineering and senior leadership, you will take ownership of sourcing strategy, supplier selection and commercial negotiations, building a high-performing supply network capable of supporting future growth.

The Technical Buyer will be responsible for:

Leading the end-to-end procurement process, from supplier identification through to contract award.
Working closely with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and source suitable suppliers.
Reviewing engineering drawings and technical specifications to support supplier selection and sourcing decisions.
Negotiating commercial agreements covering pricing, quality, warranties, indemnities and long-term supply arrangements.
Developing and managing supplier relationships to achieve quality, cost and delivery objectives.
Conducting supplier assessments, audits and regular UK and international supplier visits.
    The Technical Buyer will have:

Experience in technical or direct procurement within automotive, aerospace, advanced engineering or a similar manufacturing environment.
The ability to interpret engineering drawings and confidently discuss technical requirements with engineers and suppliers.
Proven experience negotiating commercial agreements and supplier contracts.

Commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, growing business environment.
Willingness to travel internationally to visit suppliers and manufacturing partners.
This role is ideal for a procurement professional who enjoys building supplier relationships, influencing commercial decisions and working closely with engineering teams to deliver innovative products.
If you're looking for the opportunity to shape a procurement function and play a key role in a growing engineering business, apply with a copy of your up-to-date CV and we will be in touch
