How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Lead Data Engineer £400/day (Outside IR35) | 3-Month Initial Contract, with view to extend | Remote (occasional travel to London) | UK-based candidates only, must hold full right to work in the UK

    About the Role

    We're looking for a Lead Data Engineer to take ownership of core data engineering and architecture work while providing technical leadership to a delivery team. This is a hands-on senior role for someone equally comfortable designing scalable data solutions and guiding the engineers building them.

    Key Details

    * Rate: £400 per day, Outside IR35

    * Contract Length: 3 months initially, with a strong intention to extend

    * Working Pattern: Remote-first, with occasional travel into London as required

    * Location Requirement: Candidates must be UK-based with full right to work in the UK — no sponsorship available

    The Role

    * Lead core data engineering and architecture initiatives, setting technical direction and best practice

    * Bring prior experience leading or mentoring delivery teams in a technical capacity

    * Design and build scalable, cloud-native data pipelines and integration workflows

    * Apply strong hands-on expertise with dbt across transformation and modelling work

    What You'll Bring

    * experience in data engineering, with demonstrable architecture and technical leadership experience

    * Direct, hands-on expertise with dbt

    * Deep proficiency across the Microsoft data stack, including:

    * Microsoft Fabric

    * Power BI

    * Azure Synapse

    * Azure Data Factory

    * Working knowledge of Databricks

    * Working knowledge of AWS environments (Redshift, RDS)

    * Solid grounding in database technologies, API architecture, data warehousing principles, and standard ETL/ELT patterns

    * UK-based with full right to work — essential
