How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Prep School Secretary

    Part Time (2 days per week), Term-time only

    St Edmund's College Prep School is seeking a friendly, highly organised and professional Prep School Secretary to join our welcoming Prep School team.

    As the first point of contact for pupils, parents and visitors, you will play a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the Prep School, providing an efficient and professional administrative and secretarial service while maintaining excellent relationships with families and colleagues.

    The successful candidate will:

    * Provide a warm and professional reception for pupils, parents and visitors.

    * Manage telephone and email enquiries and provide comprehensive administrative support to the Headmaster and Prep School staff.

    * Prepare correspondence, reports, newsletters and other school documentation.

    * Maintain accurate electronic and paper records.

    * Coordinate meetings and appointments, including with parents and external professionals.

    * Support Prep School admissions administration and occasionally assist with tours for prospective families.

    * Liaise with College departments including catering, transport, grounds and finance.

    * Administer Nursery Grant Funding processes.

    * Assist with pupil welfare, visitor management and security procedures.

    * Support safeguarding procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe environment for all pupils.

    You will be

    * An excellent administrator with outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.

    * A confident communicator with a warm, approachable manner.

    * Able to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with school management systems.

    * Calm, professional and able to always maintain confidentiality.

    * Experienced in an administrative or school office environment (desirable).

    Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. As with all College staff members, you will therefore be responsible for providing a safe environment in which children can learn.
