How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineers and contractors, you will ensure realistic project programmes are created and maintained throughout the full project lifecycle.

    This is a fast-paced environment where priorities can change, therefore the successful candidate must be comfortable managing several projects at different stages simultaneously.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project.

    * Plan projects from Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning.

    * Manage planning activities across multiple smaller engineering and capital projects simultaneously.

    * Work closely with Engineering, Operations and Construction teams to coordinate resources.

    * Support planning for shutdowns, maintenance outages and commissioning activities.

    * Lead planning review meetings and ensure project schedules remain accurate and achievable.

    * Monitor schedule performance and recommend corrective actions where required.

    * Provide realistic duration estimates for engineering and construction activities.

    Essential Experience

    * Proven experience as an Engineering or Project Planner within one or more of the following industries:

    * Chemical Manufacturing

    * Oil & Gas

    * Water Treatment

    * Heavy Industrial Manufacturing

    * Piping

    * Strong experience planning multiple concurrent engineering projects, rather than one major project.

    * Experience planning projects involving industrial piping systems and mechanical pipework.

    * A solid understanding of the complete engineering project lifecycle from concept through to commissioning.

    * Advanced Microsoft Project experience/ Primavera P6 experience

    * Knowledge of engineering and construction planning principles.

    * Experience monitoring project performance using schedule variance and Earned Value techniques.

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    * Strong Microsoft Office skills.

    Applicants must:

    Have previous planning experience within Chemical, Oil & Gas, Water, Heavy Industrial or similar process manufacturing environments.

    Be able to work full-time from the West Thurrock office, five days per week.

    If you have the required industry experience and are looking to join a well-established engineering business delivering complex industrial projects, we'd love to hear from you
