How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Production Supervisor / Workshop Foreman
    Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
    Sector: Manufacturing / Joinery
    Salary: £32,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:00-16:00, Friday 07:00-13:00

    Overview
An established joinery manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor / Workshop Foreman to support the day-to-day running of its busy factory operation. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong background in timber manufacturing, joinery production, woodworking, or CNC wood machining who enjoys being on the shop floor, supporting colleagues, and helping production run smoothly.
Working closely with senior management, you will act as a key point of contact for the production team, ensuring works orders progress through the factory efficiently, quality standards are maintained, and any issues are resolved quickly.

    Key Responsibilities
Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the factory floor
Monitor production activities and help ensure workloads are completed to schedule
Assist in coordinating workflow through machining, assembly, finishing and dispatch departments
Act as a first point of contact for shop floor employees, offering guidance and support where required
Ensure works orders are progressing through the factory efficiently
Liaise with management regarding production priorities and potential delays
Help identify and resolve production issues to minimise downtime and maintain productivity
Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing specifications
Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste
Ensure machinery, equipment and work areas are maintained in a safe and organised condition
Assist with training and mentoring less experienced team members
Accurately update production records and job tracking systems
Provide practical support across the factory as required
Work alongside the Factory Manager to plan, manage and oversee all production activity across all departments
Develop, issue, and maintain detailed daily and weekly production schedules based on project requirements, customer orders, and available capacity.
Monitor production progress against schedule and adjust plans proactively to address bottlenecks, delays, or changes in priorities.

    Skills & Experience
Experience within a timber manufacturing, joinery, woodworking or related production environment essential
Strong understanding of wood machining processes and factory workflow essential
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Workshop Foreman, Team Leader, Senior Machinist or similar role – will consider candidates who are ready to step up in your career
Practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across different departments
Experience operating or working alongside CNC woodworking machinery would be advantageous
Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider team

    Compliance & Standards
Promote safe working practices and ensure adherence to health and safety procedures
Maintain high standards of quality throughout the production process
Support housekeeping and organisation across all production areas
Ensure company policies and procedures are followed at all times

    Additional Information
This role would suit an experienced woodworking or joinery professional who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operation of a manufacturing facility. The focus is on supporting the production team, maintaining workflow, and helping ensure orders are completed efficiently and to a high standard, rather than extensive people management responsibilities.
