How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

    Our client is a well-established building maintenance company seeking an experienced Plumber to join their growing team in the Portsmouth area.

    Working on a social housing contract, you will carry out reactive maintenance and planned repairs within occupied and void domestic properties. You'll be responsible for delivering a high standard of workmanship while providing excellent customer service to tenants, must live within good travelling distance of Portsmouth and have a clean driver’s license.

    £20.00 per hour.
    Temporary to permanent opportunity.
    Company van and fuel card provided.
    Uniform supplied.
    PAYE option available following the qualifying temporary period.
    Long-term work with a well-established property maintenance contractor.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out all aspects of domestic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
    Diagnose and repair leaks, pipework, taps, toilets, showers, baths, and sanitary ware.
    Complete first and second fix plumbing works.
    Install and replace bathroom suites where required.
    Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs.
    Work safely and efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
    Communicate professionally with tenants, supervisors, and colleagues.
    Keep accurate records of completed works.
    Maintain your company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition.

    Essential Requirements

    Proven experience as a domestic plumber.
    Experience working within the Social Housing or Property Maintenance sector preferred.
    Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
    Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Must live within approximately 20 miles of Portsmouth.
    Willingness to undergo a DBS check prior to employment.

    Desirable Skills

    Basic tiling following plumbing repairs.
    Minor patch repairs and making good after plumbing work.
    Experience working in occupied and void properties.
