How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Strategic Asset Manager

East London (Hybrid) | £59,166 + Excellent Benefits

Goodman Masson are delighted to be partnering with Local Space to recruit a Strategic Asset Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation at a pivotal stage in the development of its Asset Management function. Reporting directly to the Director of Assets & New Business, you'll play a key role in shaping long-term investment strategies, ensuring high-quality asset intelligence and supporting evidence-based decision making across a diverse housing portfolio.

If you're an experienced Asset Manager with a passion for data-led investment planning, stock condition and strategic asset management within social housing, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact while helping improve homes and outcomes for residents.

    The Role

As Strategic Asset Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the organisation's approach to asset intelligence, stock condition data and long-term investment planning.

Working closely with Asset Delivery, Building Safety & Compliance and Finance teams, you'll translate complex asset data into practical investment programmes, supporting business planning, regulatory compliance and long-term financial sustainability.

You'll also act as the organisation's subject matter expert for asset modelling, lifecycle planning and Asset Management Systems, providing high-quality reporting and insight to senior leadership and the Board.

    Key Responsibilities

Support the development and implementation of the organisation's Asset Management Strategy.
Lead the management, validation and continuous improvement of stock condition and asset data.
Oversee Stock Condition Survey programmes, ensuring robust data quality and confidence levels.
Act as the client lead for the Asset Management System (AMS), driving system development and effective use.
Develop lifecycle models and produce 5-year and 30-year investment programmes.
Translate asset data into prioritised planned and cyclical investment programmes.
Deliver asset modelling, scenario planning and investment analysis to support business planning.
Produce strategic reports, dashboards and KPIs for senior leadership and Board reporting.
Support Decent Homes analysis, regulatory reporting and audit readiness.
Work closely with Building Safety & Compliance teams to align asset investment with statutory compliance requirements.
Support funding bids and long-term financial planning through robust asset analysis.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants and survey providers while promoting a data-driven approach to asset management.

    About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have strategic asset management experience within social housing, local authority or residential property environments.

    You'll ideally have:

Significant experience in Strategic Asset Management within a Housing Association or similar organisation.
Strong knowledge of stock condition surveys, asset data management and data validation.
Experience developing 5-year and 30-year investment programmes.
Excellent understanding of lifecycle modelling and long-term asset investment planning.
Good knowledge of the Decent Homes Standard, Consumer Standards and the social housing regulatory framework.
Experience using Asset Management Systems (AMS) and analysing complex asset datasets.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into practical investment strategies.
Experience producing reports and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of asset investment and business planning.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A relevant qualification in Asset Management, Building Surveying, Housing, Construction or a related discipline.

    Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a financially strong, highly regarded Housing Association with ambitious plans for the future and a genuine commitment to investing in both its homes and its people.

    You'll benefit from:

    Hybrid working
27 days annual leave (rising with service) plus bank holidays
Option to purchase additional annual leave
Competitive pension contribution (up to 10%)
    Healthcare Cash Plan
