Veritas Education is working in partnership with a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Twickenham that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 11-16 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The successful candidate will ideally have a background in care, support work, or SEN education and be confident supporting students with additional physical and learning needs. The role will involve personal care, including assisting with transfers between a wheelchair and classroom seating. Experience using hoists and safe wheelchair handling techniques is highly desirable.
Strong behaviour management skills and previous experience supporting young people with SEN are essential. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support and encourage positive outcomes for students.

Key Skills and Experience
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN
Strong behaviour management skills
Experience with, or willingness to undertake, personal care duties
Knowledge of wheelchair handling and moving and handling procedures
A-Level qualifications, degree, or equivalent
Experience in a school, care, support work, or child-related setting
Professional, reliable, and adaptable approach
Positive attitude with excellent communication skills
Genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
Requirements
Available to start in September 2026
Comfortable supporting students with personal care needs
Willing to complete a trial period before the start date
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
