How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Panel Wirer

    Location: Birmingham City Centre
    Job Type: Permanent
    Salary: Competitive + Overtime Available

    Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is looking to recruit an experienced Panel Wirer to join their production, assembly, and test facility based in Birmingham City Centre.

    The company designs, manufactures, and repairs a wide range of electrical and electronic products for the defence and industrial sectors, including ATEX lighting, electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, and control solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected organisation supplying high-quality products to customers across the UK and internationally.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Production Manager, you will become part of the assembly team, responsible for wiring and assembling products ranging from lighting units through to complex control and distribution panels for defence and industrial applications.

    This role would suit an experienced Panel Wirer who takes pride in producing high-quality work and can work both independently and as part of a skilled manufacturing team.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Wire and assemble electrical products, from light fittings to control cabinets and distribution panels.

    * Carry out point-to-point wiring, cable routing, crimping, soldering, and cable termination.

    * Read and interpret GA drawings, wiring schematics, and mechanical drawings.

    * Complete mechanical and electrical assembly to a high standard.

    * Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently.

    * Ensure all work meets company quality standards and production requirements.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    * Proven experience in control panel wiring.

    * Strong point-to-point wiring experience.

    * Experience with cable termination, including crimping and soldering.

    * Ability to read and interpret GA drawings and electrical schematics.

    * Experience in electrical assembly and cable routing.

    * Able to work independently and manage your own workload.

    * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

    Desirable Skills

    * Experience working to IPC Class 3 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.

    * Prototype or development wiring experience.

    * Basic electrical testing experience.

    * Previous experience supporting or mentoring colleagues within a production environment.
