How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description: Transport Planner

    Location: Wardle, Nantwich (CW5)

    Salary: £33,000 per annum

    Shift Pattern: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM | 5 days on, 2 days off

    About the Company

We are an absolute powerhouse in food logistics, boasting a 60-year heritage of keeping the UK’s biggest supermarkets fully stocked. For an ambitious Transport Planner, this is a premium, high-octane desk where you’ll mastermind a major nationwide fleet and coordinate dynamic freight through the Palletline network. Operating across three massive super-hubs in Nantwich, Crewe, and Newcastle-under-Lyme, you’ll be part of a highly stable, blue-chip operation that constantly invests in brand-new vehicles and cutting-edge routing tech.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Network & Route Optimization: Produce an achievable, cost-effective integrated national transport network plan within strict daily deadlines.

    * Real-Time Execution: Monitor live route execution using advanced tracking software (Microlise) and make swift, efficient routing adjustments on the day to ensure orders are delivered On-Time In-Full (OTIF).

    * Commercial & Profitability Focus: Review delivery schedules periodically to hit revenue targets, seeking direct opportunities to reduce empty running and optimize fleet utilization within targeted budgets.

    * Driver & Compliance Control: Manage and supervise driver workloads, ensuring absolute compliance with EU transport legislation, working hours, and trailer maintenance schedules.

    * Stakeholder Coordination: Work seamlessly with transport depots, warehouse operations, suppliers, and customer service teams to resolve failed deliveries, vehicle breakdowns, or booking-in issues.

    * Continuous Improvement: Identify and support strategic continuous improvement (CI) initiatives designed to save operational costs or enhance service delivery standards.

    What We Are Looking For

    * Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of proven experience in a fast-paced Transport Planning or Coordination role (ideally within a centralized planning or 3PL environment).

    * System Literacy: Highly IT literate, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (essential). Direct exposure to Microlise, Paragon, or modern Transport Management Systems (TMS) is highly desirable.

    * Compliance & Geography: Solid understanding of EU driver's hours regulations and a comprehensive geographical knowledge of the UK road network.

    * Attributes: A logical and analytical mind capable of making calm, objective reasoning and decisive decisions under high-pressure conditions.

    Why Join the Team?

    * Stability: Become part of a prominent local employer and a wider group that prioritizes internal training, management development, and fluid progression.

    * Premium Environment: Work in exceptional, safe, and modern ambient logistics environments utilizing top-tier fleets.

    * Benefits: Access to a competitive benefits package including a workplace pension scheme, employee assistance programs, an on-site gym, and a cycle-to-work scheme
