How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    MPI are looking for Substation fitters in Scotland, different locations (Argyll, Lochay, Peterhead SGT)

    Inside IR35 rate £34p/h PAYE or Umbrella £44.00 p/h
    Subsistence - £51.97 daily

    About the role

    Due to continued growth across our Substations business in Scotland, we're looking to recruit experienced Substation Fitters to support a growing portfolio of transmission and distribution projects.

    With work taking place across multiple locations throughout Scotland, successful candidates could be based on projects anywhere in the country. As a result, a flexible approach to travel and working away from home is essential. In return, you'll have the opportunity to work on some of Scotland's most significant energy infrastructure projects, developing your skills and building a long-term career within a growing and successful team.

    What you'll be doing

    * Install and assemble HV plant and equipment on substations from 33kV to 400kV.

    * Carry out installation of transformers, busbars, connectors, earthing systems, cables and associated infrastructure.

    * Erect aluminium and steel structures and ensure equipment is correctly aligned and secured.

    * Perform routine maintenance and assist in resolving on-site installation issues.

    * Work in line with all health, safety and quality requirements

    * Deliver installation works safely and efficiently.

    * Liaise with Site Managers, Supervisors and Project Teams to support project delivery.

    * Ensure equipment and materials are available when required.

    * Complete site documentation and reporting accurately and on time.

    * Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.

    Who we're looking for

    * Experience in substation installation works and site procedures.

    * EUSR SHEA Power

    * Manual Handling

    * Ability to work at heights

    * Full UK Driving Licence.

    Desirable but no essential

    * SSE, SPEN or National Grid authorisations.

    * MEWP, Telehandler or ROTO certification.

    * Experience with transformer and HV switchgear installation and alignment
