How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Planner - Social Housing (Drainage & Groundworks)
    Based in Essex
    Permanent
    £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

    We are seeking an experienced and organised Planner to join our growing team within the social housing sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating drainage and groundwork maintenance and repair works, ensuring operatives are scheduled efficiently while delivering an excellent service to clients and residents.

    This role requires someone with previous planning or scheduling experience within social housing and a strong understanding of drainage and groundwork operations. You will play a key role in ensuring works are completed within agreed service level agreements (SLAs), maximising productivity and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and schedule daily, weekly, and reactive drainage and groundwork works.
    Allocate jobs to engineers and operatives based on skill set, location, availability, and priority.
    Monitor workloads and adjust schedules to meet client KPIs and contractual SLAs.
    Liaise with site supervisors, contract managers, residents, and clients to ensure effective communication throughout each job.
    Respond to emergency and urgent repair requests, reprioritising workloads where required.
    Track job progress and update scheduling systems with accurate information.
    Coordinate follow-on works, materials, and specialist subcontractors where necessary.
    Ensure operatives have the required information, access arrangements, and documentation before attending appointments.
    Minimise downtime and travel by optimising routes and workloads.
    Produce reports relating to completed works, outstanding jobs, and performance metrics.
    Support continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies within planning and scheduling processes.
    Maintain excellent customer service standards when dealing with residents and stakeholders.

    Essential Requirements

    Previous experience as a Planner, Scheduler, or Works Coordinator within the social housing sector.
    Proven knowledge of drainage and groundwork repairs and maintenance.
    Experience planning reactive maintenance and responsive repair works.
    Strong understanding of scheduling systems and workforce planning.
    Excellent organisational and time management skills.
    Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
    Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, residents, and operational teams.
    Competent using Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
    Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.

    Desirable Skills

    Experience working on social housing maintenance contracts.
    Knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates.
    Experience using systems such as DRS, Opti-Time, Job Manager, Totalmobile, or similar workforce management software.
    Understanding of health and safety requirements within construction and maintenance environments
