How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    To create innovative designs for powertrain systems and products that achieve the agreed requirements and specification, on time within the approved cost and quality targets, both for internal development and across customer projects.

    * To communicate regularly and succinctly with the Lead Designer on technical aspects of the components or systems you are designing. Report to the Chief Engineer as required.

    * To design components, systems and products using various design tools to meet the client’s requirements and specification.

    * To present in technical meetings as required and actively participate in design reviews asking questions to gain further understanding.

    * To understand and use first principles of engineering and hand calculations to validate design solutions.

    * Create models and drawings that can be used to manufacture and build components/systems.

    * Check drawings and Change Orders of designs for release for manufacture, to Helix design standards.

    * Specify simulation requirements, Interpret and analyse results and data to yield improved design solutions.

    * To work closely with all areas of the business to ensure the highest level of collaboration.

    * To collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure the product is designed to suit the identified manufacturing processes and tooling.

    * Liaise with Procurement and suppliers to obtain design for manufacture feedback, then support Quality to ensure the parts received are of the required standard.

    * To Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected problems, provide potential solutions, and if required implement necessary countermeasures, documenting all work completed throughout.

    * To prepare technical reports and present the data at all levels across the organisation.

    * Support the creation of DFMEA documents –attending reviews and implementing necessary mitigating actions.

    * Assist in Developing design procedures and tools.

    * On-going identification of opportunities to reduce complexity, cost, and waste.

    * Support the development of quality and validation processes.

    * Support the sales teams in the development of marketing opportunities.

    * Any other tasks that are reasonably assigned to you by your line manager, including development activities, which are within your capability and grade
