How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Quantity Surveyor - Water & Civils experience needed!

    Location: London
    Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + Package

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established Tier 2 civil engineering contractor delivering major water infrastructure projects across London.

    The business has a strong reputation for successfully delivering projects across the water, utilities and civil engineering sectors and has secured a healthy pipeline of work through long-term framework agreements. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing commercial team with genuine opportunities for career progression.

    The Role:

    As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

    Managing the commercial aspects of multiple water and civil engineering projects.
    Administering NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including compensation events and change management.
    Preparing and managing subcontract procurement and commercial packages.
    Managing subcontractor accounts from procurement through to final account.
    Producing accurate cost forecasts, CVRs and financial reports.
    Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
    Valuing completed works and agreeing applications and payments.
    Working closely with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability.
    Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities or water infrastructure.
    Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil engineering contractor is desirable.
    Strong knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts.
    Proven experience managing subcontractors and commercial reporting.
    Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred).
    Excellent commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
    Full UK driving licence.
