How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Teaching Assistant

    Part-Time | 15 Hours per Week | Term Time Only (41 Weeks) | Permanent

Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can genuinely change lives?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established education provider that supports young people who have experienced barriers to learning. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to work with learners who may have become disengaged from mainstream education, helping them develop the confidence, skills and resilience needed to progress into further education, apprenticeships and employment.

You'll join a dedicated and supportive team that is passionate about creating positive outcomes for every learner, providing tailored support in an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

    The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them engage with learning and achieve their individual goals.

Working closely with teachers and wider support staff, you'll provide one-to-one and small group support, encourage positive behaviour, and help learners overcome barriers that may be impacting their education. No two days will be the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives on variety and enjoys making a meaningful difference.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support learners during lessons, ensuring they remain engaged and focused on their learning.

    * Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions, including support for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

    * Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.

    * Support learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), adapting approaches to meet individual needs.

    * Promote positive behaviour using effective behaviour management strategies.

    * Build positive, professional relationships with learners, encouraging confidence, independence and personal development.

    * Supervise learners during breaks, lunchtimes and other non-teaching periods.

    * Provide constructive feedback to learners to support their progress.

    * Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to monitoring progress.

    * Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers and wider professionals to ensure learners receive the support they need.

    About You

We're looking for someone who is patient, empathetic and committed to helping young people succeed, particularly those who may have faced significant challenges in education.

    You'll ideally have

    * Good English and Maths skills.

    * Experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs

    * Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to work with learners displaying challenging behaviour.

    * An understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and inclusive education.

    * Experience supporting teaching and learning within a classroom environment.

    * The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider education team.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

    * A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable and disengaged learners.

    Desirable Experience

    * Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant

    * Knowledge of literacy and numeracy interventions.

    * Experience supporting emotionally vulnerable or disengaged young people
