How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Estimator / Estimating Quantity Surveyor

    Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
    Additional: Car allowance or company vehicle

    Linsco are delighted to be working alongside a well-established, family-owned construction business who are looking to appoint an Estimator / Estimating Quantity Surveyor to join their growing Property Services division based in Derby.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering refurbishment, maintenance and property improvement projects across the Midlands. Working within an experienced commercial team, you will play a key role in pricing projects, supporting project delivery and ensuring commercial success from tender stage through to completion.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare accurate estimates for refurbishment and property services projects up to £5m.
    Obtain and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
    Price labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages.
    Support the commercial management of projects once on site.
    Price and manage project variations.
    Prepare subcontract orders and procurement packages.
    Complete Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial reporting for live projects.
    Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
    Assist with maintaining project profitability and commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.Candidate Requirements

    Previous experience working as an Estimator, Estimating Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
    Worked as an Estimator with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
    Experience pricing refurbishment, maintenance or general construction projects would be highly advantageous.
    Good commercial awareness with an understanding of cost control and project financial management.
    Experience dealing with subcontractors, supplier enquiries and procurement.
    Strong communication and client-facing skills.
    Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative commercial team.
    Full UK Driving Licence (projects are generally within a 50-mile radius of the office).What's on Offer
