How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll become an integral part of school life, working alongside experienced educators to help pupils develop both academically and personally. You'll gain practical classroom experience, learn effective behaviour management strategies and build the confidence that only comes from working directly with young people every day. Whether you're planning a future in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, SEND or youth services, this role offers invaluable preparation for the next stage of your career.

    * Previous experience with children is welcomed but not essential

    * Excellent experience before teacher training or a career working with young people

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Supporting pupils throughout lessons to maximise confidence and engagement

    * Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions where additional guidance is needed

    * Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation

    * Encouraging pupils to become independent, resilient learners

    * Helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment

    * Working collaboratively with school staff to support pupils' progress and wellbeing

Ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant for Schools in Putney

    * Hold a degree with a strong academic profile, ideally a First or 2:1

    * Demonstrate excellent GCSE and A Level results

    * Possess strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude

    * Experience working with children or young people is advantageous but not essential

    * Be interested in teaching or another career supporting children

    * Commit to a full-time role from September until the end of the academic year

    Why Join Schools Across Putney?

    * Gain practical experience that will strengthen applications for teacher training and postgraduate study

    * Learn from experienced education professionals who are committed to graduate development

    * Develop valuable classroom, communication and leadership skills throughout the year

    * Work in one of South West London's most desirable and well-connected locations

    * Join schools looking to invest in academically strong graduates with long-term ambitions

    * Finish the academic year with meaningful experience that employers across the education sector highly value
