How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers to learning?

Do you believe every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their past experiences?
Are you looking for a rewarding Behaviour Mentor role where you can make a genuine difference every day?

We are recruiting for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist school in Chelmsford that supports children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to trauma, behavioural challenges, or special educational needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient, and committed to helping students achieve positive outcomes.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, building trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. You will support students in developing positive behaviours, managing their emotions, and accessing learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

The school in Chelmsford provides a highly supportive setting where every child is treated as an individual. Working alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will play a key role in creating personalised strategies that help pupils overcome barriers to education and reach their full potential.

The ideal Behaviour Mentor will have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with behavioural needs, SEMH, autism, ADHD, trauma, or other additional needs. You will be calm under pressure, an excellent communicator, and able to build positive relationships with both students and colleagues. Experience in education, youth work, care, coaching, or support work is welcomed, although a genuine passion for supporting young people is equally important.

In return, you will join a welcoming and dedicated team where your contribution is valued. You will receive ongoing support, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children every single day. This Behaviour Mentor opportunity offers meaningful work, no two days are the same, and every success, no matter how small, is celebrated.

If you are looking for a fulfilling role in Chelmsford where you can help children overcome challenges and build brighter futures, we would love to hear from you.
