How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Jobs in Richmond | September Start

An increasing number of schools across Richmond are preparing for September by appointing Graduate Teaching Assistants to join their teams for the full academic year. These full-time, long-term opportunities are aimed at graduates with strong academic backgrounds who want to gain meaningful experience before embarking on a career working with children. Instead of applying to one school, you'll be considered for a range of opportunities across Richmond, allowing us to match you with a school where you'll be able to develop, contribute and flourish.

Working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant is one of the best ways to bridge the gap between university and a professional career in education. You'll support pupils with their learning, work alongside experienced teachers and gain invaluable insight into the day-to-day life of a school. Whether you're planning to become a teacher, educational psychologist, therapist or pursue another child-centred profession, you'll leave the academic year with practical experience that sets you apart from other graduates.

    * Encouraging confidence, resilience and independent learning

    * Helping maintain a positive, focused learning environment

    * Working collaboratively with school staff to support pupils' academic and personal development

Ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant for Schools in Richmond

    * Degree educated with a strong academic profile, ideally a First or 2:1

    * Excellent GCSE and A Level results demonstrating academic consistency

    * Enthusiastic, professional and keen to learn from experienced educators

    * Previous experience working with children is advantageous but not a requirement

    * Interested in a future career in teaching or another profession working with children

    * Available to commit to a full-time role from September until the end of the academic year

    Why Join Schools Across Richmond?

    * Develop practical classroom skills that will strengthen future career and university applications

    * Receive guidance from experienced teachers and education professionals

    * Gain valuable experience working with pupils from a variety of backgrounds and abilities

    * Build confidence in communication, behaviour management and supporting learning

    * Work in one of London's most desirable and well-connected locations
