How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

An exciting opportunity for an ambitious Business Development Manager to join a rapidly growing provider of temporary power, backup generation and engineered energy solutions. This is a commercially focused role offering the autonomy to develop new markets, secure major accounts and sell everything from straightforward hire requirements to complex, high-value infrastructure projects.

    About the Company

Our client is an established and expanding technical services business delivering complete power solutions across the UK. Its capabilities include equipment hire and sales, generator service repair and hire as well as maintenance and permanent or temporary electrical installations.

The company supports customers across construction, infrastructure, facilities management, utilities, healthcare, industrial, public-sector and critical-power environments. With continued investment in its people, engineering capability and operational infrastructure, the business offers a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where individuals can make a genuine commercial impact.

    The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will develop new business across the company’s full range of power and energy services. You will manage the complete sales process, building relationships with key decision-makers and working alongside engineering, operational and project teams to deliver commercially viable customer solutions.

    Key responsibilities include:

Identify and secure new customers across target sectors.
Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
Develop relationships with contractors, facilities management providers, utilities, industrial businesses and public-sector organisations.
Sell generator hire, ancillary equipment and bespoke temporary-power packages.
Develop opportunities across equipment sales, fuel management and maintenance contracts.
Identify large-scale temporary and permanent electrical projects.
Prepare quotations, proposals and tender submissions.
Negotiate commercially sound agreements and protect target margins.
Cross-sell services across existing and newly acquired accounts.
Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and customer activity.
Represent the business at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events.
    Person Specification

    Essential:

Proven success in business development and new customer acquisition.
Strong commercial, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Experience managing a sales pipeline from initial prospecting through to close.
Confident presenting technical or service-led solutions.
Self-motivated, resilient and comfortable working autonomously.
Strong organisation and CRM management skills.
    Full UK driving licence.
Experience within generator hire, temporary power, plant or equipment hire, industrial services, fuel management, electrical infrastructure or engineered solutions would be highly desirable.

Knowledge of public-sector frameworks, NEC or JCT contracts would also be advantageous.

25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
